Is there any network that actually works in the village? Im on my third provider since moving and they all die at the bottom of the hill. Trying to work from home and i spend half my calls stood in the garden holding the phone up like im offering it to the gods. Surely SOMEONE gets a signal up here?

nobody does mate, its the chalk and the valleys, kills the signal stone dead in patches, you learn where the dead spots are. theres one stretch of the byway where i lose GPS entirely every single time, just gone, then it comes back fifty yards on. wifi calling over your broadband is your only hope indoors. welcome to the downs, where the 21st century arrives about a mile late.

we managed without it for a few thousand years dave, youll be alright. that said, even i admit its daft you cant ring the doctor from the top field in this day and age. they put a mast in down the valley a few years back and it made no odds up here at all. the hills dont want the signal and the hills usually win.
