A note from the administrator.

I have had to close the forum to new members. Registration is shut. I'm sorry for it - but I can no longer vouch for who comes through the door.

You may also find that certain older topics are no longer where you left them. I have, with great reluctance, removed a small number of threads and posts from this forum. I did so at the written request of a firm of solicitors acting for the landowner, who hold that the material touched on matters they would prefer were not aired in public.

I have complied, because I am one man and they are not. I want it set down plainly, here, that I did so under protest, and that I do not accept the grounds. Nothing removed was untrue. Nothing removed was anyone's business to suppress.

But I will not delete this board. What is left here stays, and you may read it for as long as I can keep the lights on. I have locked the doors; I have not burned the house. I have kept copies of everything. I would ask, gently, that those of you who hold anything of your own do the same.

Len, this is careful work and I can see the hours in it. I am not sure I would have put it all in one place quite so plainly, if I am honest, it makes a picture that a scattering of separate threads does not. But you have asked good questions and dated everything properly, which is more than most manage. I have written to one or two people who might be able to confirm a couple of your points. Leave it with me.

Has anyone been able to raise Len? His thread is not where it was, I cannot find it from the board index, and when I go to his name to message him it tells me the user does not exist. Not that he has left, that he does not exist. I have his posts quoted in two of my own and even those have gone blank where I quoted him. I am probably being a fool with this wretched machine. But I have used this forum a long time and I have never known a member simply not be there, thread and posts and name and all. Edmund, did you remove Len? If you did I will say no more about it. I would just like to know it was a person who did it.

I did not remove Len, Janet, nor his thread, nor anything of his, and I want that stated plainly because the alternative is one I do not care to sit with. I have looked. I keep the records a host of my sort can keep, and by them Len Hatch joined us in the spring of 2022 and posted, by my count, a good forty times, sensibly and well. I can see the shape of where his posts were. I cannot see the posts. The account is not banned, which would leave a mark I would recognise; it is simply gone, as though it had never been opened, and it has taken the edges of other people's posts with it where they touched his. I have removed material from this forum under protest, and you all know it, and I have always said so to your faces. I did not do this. I do not know who can. I have written to the man I pay to keep the board running and I am waiting to hear. I will tell you when I do. E.S.
